.avif)
In this guide, we have listed 24 reverse email lookup tools. We have tested and ranked each of them, based on match rate, accuracy, and pricing. We’ll help you choose the right tool based on your specific needs.
What is a Reverse Email Lookup?
A reverse email lookup is a tool that allows you to input an email address and identify the owner. Usually, the tool’s response is a full name or a social media profile.
Classic use cases that leverage reverse email lookup are:
- Identify who signs up to your SaaS: connect with them on LinkedIn and send a personalized welcome DM to initiate real conversations.
- Identify high-value customers: spot your most valuable users early and offer them preferential treatment.
- Gain insights into your newsletter subscribers: better understand who reads you and tailor your content accordingly.
- Complete your CRM automatically: fill in missing fields in your lead lists and keep your CRM clean, enriched, and actionable.
There are two main types of reverse email lookups: those that work with work emails - such as pierre.landoin@icypeas.com - and those that work with personal (non-work) emails - such as darkknight631@hotmail.com or bill.gates@gmail.com.
Work emails inherently provide a higher volume of actionable information for identity attribution. Therefore, the match rate with work emails is often much higher than with personal emails. This article primarily focuses on work emails.
How Reverse Email Lookup Works
Let’s first examine how a reverse lookup tool for professional emails operates.
Method 1: Email parsing + LinkedIn search
Most professional addresses can be easily parsed to extract three key data points: the first name, the last name, and the company website. In some instances, a field may be partial or missing entirely. Here are examples of the three most common situations one can face:
- pierre.landoin@icypeas.com → Pierre, Landoin, icypeas.com
- p.landoin@icypeas.com → P., Landoin, icypeas.com
- pierre@icypeas.com → Pierre, {missing last_name}, icypeas.com
In 70% of cases, this is sufficient to locate the individual on LinkedIn. The search can be executed either via SERP or directly on the LinkedIn platform.
The primary advantage of a SERP-based search is that it allows you to bypass LinkedIn’s anti-automation and anti-scraping measures. The trade-off, however, is data freshness and depth; the results are often less comprehensive. Google indexes LinkedIn profiles with a 2-to-4-week lag, whereas Bing is significantly faster but still carries a 24-to-72-hour latency.
Method 2: Reverse Email Discovery
Tools like Icypeas, which specialize in email discovery, are powered by millions of "first name, last name, company website" queries every month. (In December 2025, Icypeas processed +80M email searches.) The process is simply reversed by scanning the logs of recently discovered emails (for example, by looking at a three-month history window).
Method 3: Database Purchasing and Analysis
Many websites (e-commerce, media, apps) include provisions in their terms to resell their users' data. This frequently includes the "email and full name" pair, and sometimes more (postal address, gender, age, phone number, etc.). If a user clicks "I accept the terms and conditions" during registration, they have legally authorized the company to resell their data.
Intermediaries facilitate the connection between companies looking to sell their user data and potential buyers. These fall into two categories:
- Marketplaces: Snowflake Marketplace, AWS Data Exchange, Datarade, LiveRamp.
- Data Brokers: Acxiom, Dun & Bradstreet, Epsilon, Experian, Equifax.
This data source has three main drawbacks: data decay (obsolescence), highly variable quality depending on the vendor, and generally high costs.
What Are The Best Reverse Email Lookup Tools? Our Test Results.
General methodology:
- We have created a randomized sample of 500 emails, including both personal and work emails, from various geographies. For some providers, we were limited to a reduced sample of 100 or 50 rows because they refused to grant us credits to facilitate the testing process.
- We have taken a screenshot of each platform with the file uploaded.
- We give access to the raw processed files upon demand. Our philosophy is to open-source the data used to establish this benchmark in order to strengthen its credibility. Anyone can reproduce the experiment on their own to confirm or challenge our findings. 100% transparent.
- We tested all tools within a two-week window to ensure a fair comparison.
Through this exercise, we realized that much of the information available publicly is inaccurate. There is a world of difference between surface-level research - i.e. just reading a homepage -and actually signing up, using the service for real, and analyzing its features firsthand.
In fact, it’s quite easy to judge the credibility of an article just by looking at the screenshots: were they taken from the public landing page or from inside the app itself? 90% of articles fall into the former category (unfortunately).

- Price per 1000 successful lookups: NA.

It charges 1 credit per email matched.

- Match rate: 72%.

- Price per 1000 successful lookups: $30.
- Cons: the API is slow. It takes 6 seconds to process 1 email. The answer includes full name, job title, current company, professional experience (sometimes), but it does not include the Linkedin profile URL. More importantly, the API has returned 9% of false positives.
Clearout
Clearout is an email validation and lead prospecting platform.
It charges 1 credit per reverse lookup.

- Match rate: 0%.
- Price per 1000 successful lookups: $5.2.
- Cons: you cannot do a bulk search, only single searches (so you have to input emails one by one). Besides that, the resolution engine is completely broken. Zero matches out of 500 emails.
Lix-it
Lix-it is a LinkedIn data extraction and enrichment tool that allows users to export professional data directly from LinkedIn profiles and searches, through the Lix-it Chrome extension.

- Match rate: 36%.
- Errors: 0.4%.
- Price per 1000 successful lookups: 99$.
- Cons: to use Lix-it, you are forced to install their Chrome extension and to link it to your Linkedin account. That’s tough.
Epieos
Epieos is a non-intrusive OSINT enrichment engine that retrieves publicly available information across 150+ platforms (Google, Reddit, Facebook, etc.) without storing personal data. In practice, they don’t find Linkedin profiles from an email. They hardly resolve any identity. Unfortunately, wat Epieos finds is mainly useless in a B2B sales context:

Furthermore, a Google captcha appears systematically on the free version. You must click on images that correspond to a given definition. That’s a bit annoying.
Haveibeenpwned
HaveIBeenPwned is a data breach aggregation service that allows users to check if their email address has been compromised in security leaks. The service is quite affordable: for $4.50, you can check any amount of emails, with a rate limit of 10 emails per minute. It does not resolve the identity per se (it does not find a Linkedin profile), but it gives you clues on 2 things: 1) Is your target following best cybersecurity practices ; 2) if not, what services are used by your target (Deezer, Canva, etc.)?
For example, the email address “giovanni@naniza.io” is found in the following database leaks:
- Canva
- Gravatar
- Trello
- Shadow
- Vultr
From this info, we can infer that the email’s owner is using or has been using digital tools that require technical skills.
- Match rate: 39%. (i.e. 39% of emails are present in at least 1 leak)
(💡 BreachVIP is a very similar service.)
Blackbird
Blackbird is a free and open source tool by Lucas Antoniaci, available on Github. It tests if an email is registered on social networks. It does not give the profile URL though. Similarly to Haveibeenpwned, it can give precious information about the social media used by someone, but it is definitely not a reverse email lookup tool.

- Match rate: 66%. (i.e. 66% of emails are registered in at least 1 social network)
Sapiengraph
Sapiengraph was a popular Google Sheets add-on that automated B2B data enrichment. In 2025, Linkedin filed a federal lawsuit against Nubela, the company behind both Proxycurl and Sapiengraph. Like Proxycurl, Sapiengraph seems to be deprecated. We tried to install the add-on in Google Sheets but we faced this error:

Also, the last update date is December 19, 2024 (just 2 weeks before Linkedin made their lawsuit public).
Social CatFish
In the background, the service was subcontracted to Orbitly. The service does not work any more.

Spokeo, BeenVerified & PeopleSearch
Spokeo, BeenVerified and PeopleSearch (formerly PeopleFinders, also known as Reachpal.net) are similar platforms. They don’t offer any API or bulk search capabilities. They are optimized for individual searches, preferably of US citizens. Users pay per contact: $0.5 to $1. The process is very slow: 25 seconds on average. A lot of users compare them to a scam because of the low quantity of info provided. Spokeo has 2.4 stars out of 5 on Trustpilot, BeenVerified has 2.7 and PeopleSearch has 3.8.
Reverselookup.com is a recent newcomer. Its reviews are good (4.6) but it shows the same patterns: $1 per contact, fancy marketing pages and call-to-actions, output data with no interest.
3 Categories of Reverse Email Lookup Tools
In summary, we have three categories of players: functional services, services that don’t work or differ from what we're looking for (i.e. reverse email lookup), and scams.
In the following section, we will focus on the tools that actually work.
📊 Full Comparison Table: Success Rates & Pricing
Here is a comparison table of the working solutions. We have first sorted themWe first sorted them by error rate. False positives are devastating: they create unnecessary work for your sales team and lead to spam reports from recipients - whether it’s your emails or your LinkedIn DMs. That's what you want to minimize (even annihilate). The match rate comes second.
Final Verdict: Which Tool Should You Choose?
Icypeas is the top pick 🥇. Its zero error rate, combined with an extremely high match rate, makes it the best option for your B2B marketing and sales workflows. On top of that, Icypeas’ credit system is the most generous and the most flexible. The API is ultra-fast and scales effortlessly.
⏩ Sign up to Icypeas here and get 50 credits for free ⏪
Leadmagic is a very strong second choice 🥈. Fullenrich is also an interesting option if your use case can tolerate a significant false-positive rate 🥉.
